The story behind Still life with fruit
Bert Ernie has loved the Dutch masters of the Seventeenth century since he was a young boy. The ability to paint as accurately as the human eye can see has always been an accomplishment which he has viewed as almost superhuman.
This painting is a contemporary piece of photorealism and homage to Dutch masters like Willem Claesz, Heda and Willem Kalf. This contemporary still life painting displays fresh fruit on a glass plate which sits on a black table; consisting of a cut orange, strawberries, and grapes.
