As a free thinking human Bert Ernie can say anything even if it appears to go against his stated belief systems. Bert is a committed pacifist; and yet he has painted this remarkable digital abstract painting – Kill tyrants.
Many pacifists reserve the right to defend themselves. Killing a tyrant is defending yourself and more importantly protecting others from their violent ways.
The difficult part of the statement ‘kill tyrants’ is determining who is/isn’t a tyrant. There are many good definitions.
The philosophers Plato and Aristotle defined a tyrant as a person who rules without law, using extreme and cruel methods against both his own people and others. The Encyclopédie defined the term as a usurper of sovereign power who makes “his subjects the victims of his passions and unjust desires, which he substitutes for laws”. – Wikipedia

The story behind Kill tyrants

Thou shalt not kill – excellent rule. But it needs one exception. Kill all tyrants. Without exception.

Tyrants are often seen as evil because of their abuse of power. They often prioritize their own interests and desires over the needs and well-being of their subjects.

They will use fear, violence, and manipulation to maintain their grip on power, which often results in widespread suffering, oppression, and exploitation.

Additionally, tyrants may limit individual freedoms and prevent their citizens from speaking out against them, which stifles growth, creativity, and progress.

This can lead to a society that is deeply divided and lacking in trust, making it difficult for people to work together and achieve common goals.

Ultimately, tyrants create a world where the strong dominate the weak, and the voice of the people is suppressed, making it difficult for any kind of meaningful change or progress to take place.
