Michiel van Mierevelt was one of the greatest portrait painters to have ever held a brush
I have always looked at the paintings of Michiel Jansz. van Mierevelt with total awe. His mastery of portraiture and especially complex forms in the clothing of his subjects has always fascinated me. So I will eventually get around to copying this painting which is often simply known as ‘Portrait of a woman‘ (as the subject is unknown).
