Photorealist painting – Still life with fruit
Still life after the Dutch masters
Bert Ernie has loved the Dutch masters of the Seventeenth century since he was a young boy. The ability to paint as accurately as the human eye can see has always been an accomplishment which he has viewed as almost superhuman. The Dutch masters often painted in only one genre. This painting is a contemporary piece of photorealism and homage to Dutch masters like Willem Claesz Heda and Willem Kalf. This contemporary still life painting displays fresh fruit on a glass plate which sits on a black table; consisting of a cut orange, strawberries and grapes this small work is purely visual piece.
