Photorealist painting – Jesus
Photorealist painting - Jesus Materials: Acrylic on MDF board Dimensions: 30 x 17 cm Painted: 2009
This painting depicts the first communist, Jesus Christ, in vividly coloured robes. Bert painted a portrait of Jesus for his friend Rebecca Parker in a single day! It took 12 hours and at 30x17cm this painting is quite small. Once he completed the painting she told him that she didn’t want it. Photorealism? Well maybe not. It was soon gratefully accepted by a devout Christian friend of Bert.
Many would disagree with the description of Jesus Christ as a communist. The artist would strongly disagree. He preached ‘community’ at every turn. It’s the Marxists that have perverted the idea of community.
Verily I say unto you, that a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
