One of the first paintings I did when I got my new Chromacolour acrylic paints.

  • The painting is rather small but it is still rather masterful.
  • I gave this to my mother. Like many of my paintings, I have to give them away.

Dimensions: 21x28cm.
Painted: 2009.
Materials: Acrylic on MDF board.
Availability: This painting is in a private collection.

The story behind Still life with fruit

I have loved the Dutch masters of the Seventeenth century since I was a young boy. The ability to paint as accurately as the human eye can see has always been an accomplishment which I have viewed as almost superhuman.

This painting is a contemporary piece of photorealism and homage to Dutch masters like Willem Claesz Heda and Willem Kalf. This contemporary still life painting displays fresh fruit on a glass plate which sits on a black table; consisting of a cut orange, strawberries, and grapes.
